On a single medium (21), a conductive strip (20) cut out so as to constitute an electrical winding (22) of a transducer of common type, of the cyclic type with slider, is coupled to a digital coding line (26) associated with sensors (30-35) of the slider (27), thereby constituting an absolute position measurement transducer for identifying the individual cycles of the cyclic transducer. The transducer is particularly useful in machine tools for controlling and checking the movement of members. An absolute position transducer is obtained which is low in cost, high in reliability and can be easily integrated with cyclic precision transducers of known type to obtain, at the same time, high precision and absolute indication of precision. <IMAGE>
