Vehicle for deposition of sand fill in trench - uses archimedean screw on top edge of bottom hung pivotable side wall of vehicle

The lorry gives continuous uniform deposition of a sand fill layer in an open trench, using an Archimedean screw (9) mounted on the top edge of a bottom hung lateral wagon wall (10). A hooded part-cylindrical casing (6) locates the screw, fed sand (4) by progressive pivoting of the wall. It effects the end tipping of the sand. A screw may be mounted on both lateral wagon walls which may be operated hydraulically from the cab, an extension tube being used to increase the effective reach. The extension tube may be mounted on an independent tractor, with further screws which may be driven independently or by the screw through the medium of gear trains.
