Brine source for water softener regeneration - with salt and brine chambers sepd. by calcined clay partition

Brine source for ion-exchange water softeners in domestic appliances (esp. dishwashers) comprises a salt chamber sepd. from a brine chamber by a brine-permeable partition, with the improvement that the partition is made of calcined clay. The clay partition is permeable to dissolved salt but completely impermeable to salt crystals, thus preventing blockage of the line from the brine source to the ion exchanger.
