The metal insert for a sealing strip on a car has a U-shaped profile strip stamped with a series of parallel strips (16) bent into parallel hoops and linked by short cross members (18,22) which lie along each side of the U-profiled strip. One set of cross members (22) is divided to allow the profile to flex sideways. The insert provides axial strength while allowing bending flexibility. The insert is embedded in soft plastic without requiring any other reinforc.
