Compounds of the formula: <IMAGE> wherein A represents alkylene or alkenylene and R1 and R2 represent hydrogen, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, cycloalkylalkyl, aralkyl or polyhalogenoalkyl or, together with the nitrogen atom, represent a 5-membered to 7-membered heterocyclic ring are obtained by reaction of corresponding compounds having an -A-X side chain with an amine HNR1R2, or of corresponding compounds having an -A-NH-R3 side chain with a compound R5-X; X denotes a cleavable (removable) group. The compounds and their salts have a multiplicity of actions on the central nervous system; they may be used, inter alia, as anxiolytics, antidepressives and tranquillizers and in part also as antihistamines.
