PURPOSE:To prevent the rise of the operating voltage of a glow starter due to the emission of impurities and thereby secure the starting of a metal-vapor electric- discharge lamp, by installing an electrically insulated getter within the glow starter. CONSTITUTION:If impurity-containing gases are discharged from a case 30, a bimetal electrode 31 and 32, a contact 31a and 32a or the like which are installed within an outer tube and are exposed in an atmosphere of high temperature, a getter 34 adsorbs these emitted gases. Consequently, the space inside the case 30 is kept clean, the operating voltage of a glow starter is not varied, and the pulse height and the pulse spacing are maintained at a given value with a high accuracy, and thus the starting of a metal-vapor electric-discharge lamp is secured. |
