The aromatic hydroxy compounds of the formula in which R1 is a cycloaliphatic hydrocarbon radical, and Hal is halogen, and salts, especially pharmaceutically acceptable non-toxic acid addition salts of these compounds, can be used as diuretics and saluretics, e.g. for the treatment of oedema, as well as of hypertension.
