The afterburner with separate ignition has the gas and supplementary air mixture introduced through a duct in heat-exchange contact with outflowing gas. The combustion chamber (32) contains a large flat baffle (70) embodying the outlet (40) from the feed duct (16) facing a flow-reversing end-wall (21). The space behind this baffle (30) forms a combustion-completion zone and, in distinction from the ignition zone, has boundaries (37,16) swept on the other side by a cooler medium in the thermally-steady state. Of these boundaries the feed duct wall (16) acts as a deflector, directing gas flow into the first follow-on chamber (34).
|
