The ear protector comprises capsules which surround the ear and each include a volume of air. Filters communicating with the air volume of the capsule are arranged on the outside of the capsules. The filter (5) has a chamber (3) forming a first filtering step with an opening (2). Furthermore, there is a pipe (4) which forms a second filtering step and adjoins the chamber (3). The pipe (4) is to be arranged under the sound-absorbing inner lining of a capsule of the ear protector. Despite the good sound insulation, the ear protector ensures sufficient, virtually undiminished signal comprehensibility for specific warning signals. <IMAGE>
