<p>The intelligent controller for providing a communication processing link between a central processor and peripheral digital appts. includes a command processor, a device interface controller and a process sequence controller. The command processor receives commands from the central processor, interprets the commands and distributes the interpreted commands to the device interface controller which directs the peripheral digital appts. to perform operations in conformance with the interpreted commands. The process sequence controller receives data from the peripheral appts., processes the data in conformance with the interpreted commands and transmits the processed data to the control processor.. This arrangement reduces the burden placed on the central processor by shifting some of the processing onto intelligent peripheral controllers.</p> |
