<p>Novel compounds of formula:

in which each of R1 and R2, which are similar or dissimilar, is a C1-3 alkyl group or R1 and R2 are joined to form, together with the nitrogen atom to which they are both attached, a 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic ring, which may optionally contain an oxygen atom or NH or N-C1-5 alkyl group; X is a sulfur atom or a methylene group; n is 2, 3 or 4; R3 is a hydrogen atom or a C1-5 alkyl, C3-6 cycloalkyl, (C3-6 cycloalkyl)-(C1-5 alkyl), C2-5 alkenyl, C2-5 alkynyl, phenyl-(C1-5 alkyl), C1-5 hydroxyalkyl, C1-5 alkoxy, C1-5 alkylamino or di(C1-5 alkyl)-amino group; and Y is sulfur, =CHNO2 or =NR4 where R4 is nitro, cyano or C1-5 alkylsulfonyl, are useful for the suppression of gastric acid secretions in mammals and compositions containing such compounds are made.
