During assembly of flat roof tiles in groups of two, they are conveyed along a base level lying flat. During conveying the roof tiles are aligned at right angles to the conveying direction. From the conveyed flow each second roof tile is led to a higher placed branch level and turned through 180 degrees, and those roof tiles positioned on the branch level are lined up during the conveyor movement at right angles to the direction of conveyor movement. Finally the roof tiles lined up on the branch level are conveyed from above on to the roof tiles lined up on the lower base level and placed on to them.
