The self-closing tao has a valve plunger guided in a housing and working against a seat between the water inlet and outlet. Between the unloading chamber above the olunger and the outlet is an operating valve controlled by an actuator. The latter valve is held open to delay closing, while there is a plunger nozzle between water inlet and unloading chamber. The delay mechanism has a control tappet movable axially by the actuator in relation to the valve plunger. The top end of the tappet forms with a seal in the plunger the operating valve and has a delay nozzle larger than the plunger nozzle. The tappet also has a seal temporarily pressed against the plunger underside, and at the bottom end a throttling sleeve in the connection between water inlet and outlet.
