The fishing reel has a spool and a peripheral winding flange, with open axial sleeves extending in opposite directions and overlapping each other. The spool (3) or the flange (2) has, concentric to the sleeve (4,5), a second axial flange (6,7) which is positioned concentric to and clear of it. The overlapping sleeves alternate in the radial direction. The design avoids the risk of the line jamming between soool and flange.
