The device has a rotating massage drum (2) mounted on a horizontal axis and having shaped massage rollers (3) around its peripher. The rollers (3) are each concave in the centre and they are rigidly mounted on the drum (2). The concave outer surface of each roller (3) may have a series of raised beads or a raised helix. The drum is supported between two vertical supports lying halfway along a frame supporting a horizontal mat (4) and defining a pair of handrails (5) along both sides of the mat (4). The mat is supported by springs at both ends and can be released at one end, so that it can be draped over the drum (2).
