1094011 Turning; making piston rings GOETZEWERKE FRIEDRICH GOETZE A G 2 April 1965 [2 April 1964] 14173/65 Index F2T 37E1R Apparatus for machining and handling stacks of piston rings comprises a loading and aligning unit 1 for each stack 6 and a first clamping device 13 which conveys the aligned stock 6 from the loading unit 1 to a copying lathe 2 to effect non- circular maching of the rings. The first clamping device is mounted on a carriage 7 and movable along guideways 10 and 14 at right angles to each other. A second clamping device 16 mounted on a carriage 8 moves along guideways 15 and 10 to remove the machined stack from the lathe and transport it to a slitting machine 3. Following the slitting operation a third clamping device 18 removes the slit stack 6 from the machine and transfers it to a washing unit 4 the washed stack of rings being subsequently transferred by means 19 to a storage location 5. The clamping devices 13, 16 and 18 are all of similar construction and are operated pneumatically to effect clamping of the stacks.
