1,215,067. Poly - bis - 1,2,4 - triazole filaments and films. GLANZSTOFF AG. 2 April, 1968 [8 April, 1967], No. 15691/68. Heading B5B. [Also in Division C3] Poly-bis-1,2,4-triazole films or filaments are produced by dissolving a polyacyl oxamidrazone of the formula in which R represents an aromatic ring system or a -CH=CH- group, in aqueous alkali metal hydroxide, spinning or pouring this solution into an acid precipitation bath; washing and then heating the resultant foils or filaments in an inert atmosphere to a temperature of 230‹ to 350‹ C. to produce the triazole rings. The heat treatment may be started at one temperature and the temperature gradually increased. The filaments or films can be stretched in the spinning bath, or before, during or after the washing. Polyterephthaloyl or polyisophthaloyl oxamidrazone can be used as starting material. Dilute inorganic acids, solutions of salts of strong acids with weak bases e.g. NH 4 Cl, or acid salt solutions are suitable precipitation bath liquids. |
