发明名称 SEALING METHOD FOR PARTS FOR OPTICAL COMMUNICATION
摘要 PURPOSE:To simplify the assembling of optical-communication parts comprising an optical element and optical fiber by aligning and securing them in a package, before replacing the air inside the package with an inert gas. CONSTITUTION:Around the upper part of a cylindrical metal stem 1 serving also as a lead terminal of a package case, a metal ring 3 having an outward flamge at the upper end is arranged, and the gap between the ring 3 and the stem 1 is filled with an insulator 2 of epoxy resin or the like. Then, a light-emitting element 4, such as a light-emitting diode, is secured to the upper end surface of the stem 1. One of the electrodes provided on the element 4 is connected to the stem 1, and the other to the ring 3 through a metal wire 5. After that, a cap 6 is placed on the circumferential edge of the ring 3, and an optical fiber 7 is inserted into a through hole 6a made in the cap 6 so that the end of the fiber 7 faces to the element 4. The gap between the fiber 7 and the hole 6a is sealed with a bonding agent 8 of epoxy resin. Then, by using a through hole 6b made in the cap 6, the air inside the package is replaced with an inert gap.
