In proportion to this, the dissolved oxygen of the part near an oxygen electrode diaphragm 4 decreases and the output current of the microbe electrode 11 decreases. A proportional relation holds between the decrease in this output current and the concentration of nitrous acid, and therefore if the amount or rate of decrease of the output current is measured, the ammonia concentration in the specimen is obtained.
