PURPOSE:To effectively dehydrate nonaqueous liquid without causing damage of ion exchange resin used and also of a packed tower by passing upwards the nonaqueous liquid in the packed tower at a flow rate below the minimum fluidization rate of the resin. CONSTITUTION:In the dehydration of nonaqueous liquids, e.g., benzene, toluene, etc., a dehydration tower packed with an ion exchange resin, e.g., strongly acid cation exchange resin with sulfone groups as exchange groups is used, where the nonaqueous liquid is passed upwards in the dehydration tower packed with the dried resin at a rate below the minimum fluidization rate of the resin. Thus, because the expansion of the resin due to water absorption can be absorbed in spaces at the upper part of the resin and also the resin layer is not fluidized, the dehydration efficiency is maximized, attaining the effective dehydration of nonaqueous liquids. |
