摘要 PURPOSE:To perform optical axis alignment safely and efficiently by inserting and holding a cylindrical guide into the hole of a guide holder, and disposing a photodetector movably integrally with the guide holder on the side opposite from the side where this guide is inserted. CONSTITUTION:This is a method of aligning the optical axes of a semiconductor light emitting device 1 and a cylindrical guide 5 provided with a condensing medium 4 at ome end. The cylindrical guide 5 is inserted and held in the hole of a guide holder 8, and a photodetector 13 is disposed movably integrally with the guide holder 8 in correspondence to the condensing medium 4, on the side of the hole of the guide holder 8 opposite from the side where the cylindrical guide 5 is inserted. This makes it possible to perform optical axis alignment with good efficiency without the danger of staining the end faces of the optical fibers and breaking the optical fibers at the time of optical axis alignment.
