PURPOSE:To control the shape of the rolled material, by making the diameter of the upper work roll small, by shifting the center of the upper work roll to the downstream side of the rolling line, by installing the intermediate roll between the upper backup roll and the upper work roll, and by attaching the vertically bending device and the horizontally bending device to the work roll. CONSTITUTION:The diameter of the upper work roll 1 is made small, and its central axis is shifted to the downstream side of the rolling line; the intermediate roll 5 is installed between the upper backup roll 3 and the upper work roll 1 and the center of this intermediate roll 5 is put on the vertical line including the center of the lower work roll 2. During the rolling work, the work rolls 1, 2, cause a distortion so as to escape toward the shifted side. For carrying out the shape control by utilizing this distortion of the work roll, the bending device 14 attached to each of work rolls 1, 2, and the backup roll 7, the push roll 6 attached to the upper work roll 1, are actuated by operating the transfer device 10 so as to freely adjust the distortion of the upper work roll 1 at each of plural positions along the axis of the work roll 1. |
