PURPOSE:A flame-retardant composition, excellent in flame retardancy, mechanical strength and flexibility, which comprises a halogenated polyethylene, a polyolefin, an ethylene-propylene copolymer and a crosslinking agent. CONSTITUTION:(A) A halogenated polyethylene (crystalization degree <=10%), (B) a polyolefin (a polyethylene, an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer, etc.), (C) an ethylene-propylene copolymer (ethylene content of 60-90wt%; Mooney viscosity of 10-70), and (D) an organic peroxide crosslinking agent (e.q., di-t-butyl peroxide), are compounded. Where the resulting composition contains at least 10wt% of chlorine and 5-30wt%, based on the total of said components A, B of the component C (an ethylene-propylene copolymer). It is adequate to contain about 20- 70wt% of the component B (a polyolefin) and about 0.5-10wt% of the component D (a crosslinking agent). |
