PURPOSE:To reduce breakage of graphite cylinders and easily heat-treat a carbon material by interposing each graphite backing plate between adjacent cylinder when the material is inserted or filled into the cylinders and continuously heated through a graphite furnace core tube. CONSTITUTION:When carbon material 12 is inserted or filled into graphite cylinders 2 and continuously heat-treated through a graphite furnace core tube 1, by interposing each graphite backing plate such as discoid backing plate 11 or semidiscoid backing plate 14 about equal to cylinder 2 in diameter between adjacent cylinders 2, the contact area of plate 11 and cylinder 2 can be kept large even if plate 11 or cylinder 12 slips out of place somewhat, and the force per unit area can be reduced as compared to those without interposing a backing plate. Accordingly, cylinders 2 are protected from breakage. |
