PURPOSE:A polyvinyl chloride-based flame-retardant composition, suitable as a coating material for an electrical wire requiring mechanical characteristics, oil resistance and cold resistance, which comprises a specified synthetic rubber, an ester plasticizer and a flame retardant. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100pts.wt. of a polyvinyl chloride (electrical wire-coating grade), (B) 3-25pts.wt. of an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer rubber of vinyl acetate content >= about 30wt%, (C) 30-80pts.wt. of a trimellitate plasticizer (preferably a triester of trimellitic acid anhydride and an 8-10C aliphatic alcohol), and (D) 10-100pts.wt. of a flame retardant (e.g., a mixture of Sb2O3 with hydrated alumina), are compounded. |
