PURPOSE:To make it possible to manufacture a large capacity of battery easily and at a low cost by furnishing a core material to maintain the distances between electrode plates constant in an absorbent porous body to hold the electrolyte solution. CONSTITUTION:A group of electrode plates which consist of cathodes 5, anodes 6, and retainers 4 are assembled laminating parallel to the set surface. The retainer 4 has a grid-form core material 1 consisting of a vinyl chloride resin therein, which prevents a smashing by the lower retainer when they are laminated, making it possible to maintain and secure the liquid. And since the fiber diameter of the retainer member 2 to contact to the electrode plate is made less than 1mu, the adhesion with the electrode plate is good enough, and since the fiber diameter of the retainer member 3 at the inner side is made 3mu to 10mu, and 5wt.% of fiber-form acrylic fiber is included, it has not only a good liquid holding property but also a good repelling power. Furthermore, since the retainer member 3 is made a little thicker than the core material 1, it never disturbs the adhesion to the electrode plate. |
