The checking and renewing device, for liquified petroleum gas cylinders at the end of a filling line, has a cylindrical applicator with an applicator head contacting the nose of the tap to which the supplied circuit is connected. The applicator receives the annular seals one at a time from a distributor and fits one into a reception groove in the tap nose, if the seal is missing. The seals are fitted into place via an injection stamp sliding axially within the applicator which is itself displaced via a hydraulic or pneumatic cylinder against a spring bias to bring the applicator head into contact with the tap nose. Pref. the injection stamp has an axial channel coupled to a device which measures any leakage.
