The coupler has a head and tail section bogies with a load bar shackled to these. Each shackle (5) connects the bogies (1,2) to the bar (5) through a hinge joint (9), acting as axis for the vertical movement of the shackle which in turn is hinged (6) to the bar so as to have two mutually perpendicular swivel axes. The joint (6), pref. a ball joint should contain a bush (7) pivoted on the shackle with journals (8) run into holes (10) at the bar ends. These holes should be trapezoidal in section with the large end downward and each journal (8) contact surface has a perimeter length viewed in cross-section half the length of the circumference of the bar part surrounding the hole. Slots can be used instead of holes and the trapezium shapes can be directed large end uppermost likewise.. The coupler is used in busher and overhead trolley conveyors. The coupler provides impact-free load movement, reduces overload on the conveyor drive. The journal design can be varied to increase friction for more positive entrainment of the bogies under load, especially when starting from a halt.
