In a casing (1) having an inlet (3) and an outlet (4), there is rotatably arranged a rotor (20) which has rows (25), which are arranged at intervals, of carriers made of plastic bristles. The axes of the inlet (3) and the outlet (4) are only inclined with respect to one another to the extent that at least two rows of bristles rest against the inside peripheral wall (2) and in so doing ensure that the scattering material is sealed off effectively. The shaft (22) of the rotor (20) is coupled by means of a coupling (32) which is torsionally elastic in the circumferential direction to the drive shaft (31) of an electric motor (30) in order to keep the starting load of the motor (30) small. The electric motor (30) is fully encapsulated and it is surrounded by a casing (33) which is connected to the casing (1). A collar (34) provides hermetic sealing at the connection point. The relatively small deflection of the scattering material between the inlet (3) and the outlet (4) means that friction losses in the rotor (20) are relatively small. <IMAGE>
