PURPOSE:To reduce the iron content in slag by simultaneously blowing the boric acid or its salt contg. specific B2O3 amount in a desulfurizer into molten iron. CONSTITUTION:In performing out-of-furnace desulfurization by mixing a powder or granular desulfurizer into the molten iron received in a molten iron vessel, one or two or more kinds selected from boric acid or its salt occupying 1-10wt% in B2O3 amount in the desulfurizer are simultaneously blown into the desulfurizer. Sassolite, borax, boric anhydride, kotoite, szaibelyite, suanite, etc. are used as the boric acid or the composition contg. its salt. If the out-of-furnace desulfurization is performed by said method, the amount of pig iron loss may be decreased by about 1/3-1/4 without decreasing the rate of desulfurization. |
