Automatic point to point wiring machine - uses optical registration and mobile wiring head and provides automatic centering control of work piece

The wiring head is moved on a traversing table in two orthogonal directions and in which the pieces to be wired are automatically fed and centred with respect to the wiring head. The work piece is centred by moving the tool post carrying the head and table by adjusting orthogonal lead screws, and during wiring, the wiring head is held onto the work piece by a magnetic clamp. The wiring head is driven by servo systems which are numerically controlled by a stored program after initial centering. Registration of the head and work piece is performed using a closed circuit television system fixed to the tool post. The appts. can be used for electronic circuits and microcircuits.
