摘要 <p>To thin sheets of a material with a high degree of thermal conductivity, for pref. steel, are folded through an angle alpha and assembled into a tube with the cross-section of a diamond, to form an element for absorbing solar energy. The element is introduced between an external and an internal envelope delimiting an elongated chamber which is put under vacuum, whilst the inner envelope also serves as the duct along which a heat exchanging medium flows. The rigid character of the sheets and the angle at which they are folded ensures contact vetween them and the internal envelope irrespective of the temperature. The first or both sheets form a support for a thin layer of a material which is sensitive to solar radiation such as copper. The element has a high degree of absorption for sunlight and very little capacity for the emission of infrared radiation, and it finds application in solar panels in which a number of these elements are placed side by side at uniform spacing.</p>
