An implement for working ground-lying crops comprises a mobile frame 1, at least one tined rake member 4, 5 mounted on the frame so as to be rotatable about an upright axis 15 (Fig. 2), and a guide member 12 which can occupy a position in which it windrows the crop. A pair of tines is mounted on a bar which is pivotably mounted in a sleeve at the end of spoke 13 of which there are eight per rake member, and can be held in any one of at least two positions by a spring loaded locking pin whose enlarged head 23 fits into one of holes 19 in plate 18. The pin can be withdrawn by handle 26 (Fig. 1). Variations of this adjusting mechanism are: (i) a forked bracket at the end of spoke 13 containing a pivotable bar and similar locking means to the above (Fig. 6, not shown); (ii) an extension of the coiled part 28 of the tines to provide a handle; the coiled part being pivotable about the end of spoke 13 which is bent at 90 degrees to the main portion of the spoke, and the handle being locked in positions by a grooved plate on the spoke (Fig. 8, not shown); (iii) a forked bracket as (i) pivotably connected to another forked bracket on which the tines are mounted, this second bracket being locked in position by a method similar to (i) above (Figs. 10, 11, 12, not shown); (iv) a block on which the tines are mounted being pivotably mounted between the arms of a forked bracket as (i) above, the block being locked in position by a pin engaging one of a number of holes in the block. The tine mounting member may be connected by a rod to an annular disc around the hub of the rake member so that by rotating the disc the position of all the tines on all the spokes 13 can be changed simultaneously. If only one rake member is used the guide member comprises a plate supported on an arm extending, and adjustable, laterally of the direction of movement of the machine. This guide member is capable of swinging over on to itself (towards the centre of the rake member) as is the original guide member, when not in use. The implement is connected to a tractor by drawbar 7 whose angular setting is adjusted by cranked spindle 8 and the gearbox drive is connected to the tractor p.t.o. by splined shaft 10. The implement is supported on wheels 6 or skids.</p> |
