Overrun brake for tractor drawbar - has hydraulic cylinder for normal braking and to lift overrun on reversing

The brake for a trailer drawbar has a hydraulic cylinder (8) which holds off the brake action when linked to the tractor hydraulic circuit. The brake linkage has a sliding fitting with a stop (6) which brakes the trailer on overrun. For normal braking the cylinder is vented, when the tractor brakes are applied, so that the trailer is braked. The trailer brakes require no other hydraulic connections, with the wheel brakes operated mechanically. For reversing the hydraulic cylinder is operated in a reverse manner to overcome the overrun effect so that the brake connection does not have to be uncoupled.
