<p>A positioning unit comprising movable drive and stator parts in partic. for adjusting the position of a body on a flat surface without incurring a current input into the moving part, and yet incorporating a simple design to allow rapid positioning into one of many possible positions on the plane surface. A permanent magnet layer is located on the drive part and the stator part incorporates crossing stator windings such that movement of the drive part in two dimensions over the plane surface is achieved through electrical control of the windings.</p> |
