1,110,591. Filter tipped cigarettes. GALLAHER Ltd. 2 Aug. 1965 [19 Aug., 1964], No. 33909/64. Heading A2C. A filter tipped cigarette has a reinforcing ring 10, e.g. of vinyl paper, stuck to that end of the cigarette paper 6 containing the tobacco rod which is fitted to the filter tip 8. The tip and cigarette length are secured together by a simulated cork sleeve 9. The reinforcing material is applied to the length of cigarette paper in double length and at double cigarette length intervals prior to the formation of a tobacco rod. After the rod has been formed and wrapped it is cut into double cigarette lengths at the centres of the reinforcing sleeves so that each length has a single reinforcing strip at each end. The lengths are then separated and double length filter tips inserted, abutted and joined to form a continuous rod of tobacco and filters. The rod is then cut into individual cigarettes. |
