<p>Injection mould having laterally openable side mould members which define open-ended mould cavity, base member and top closing member with sprue and runner passages. Automatic degating and sprue removal device consists of base mounted core pin which becomes anchored in the solidified sprue. Similar pins become anchored in individual runners. Opening movement of the top member causes the runners to break away at the gates and then pulls sprue and runners from the top member. Used esp. for moulding multiple articles with irregular shaped bottoms. Clean removal of sprue and runners during removal from the mould avoids subsequent manual work. The device avoids difficulty of operating with ejector pins on the irregular shaped bottoms. It is easier to change a machine for moulding different parts.</p> |
