NOVEL GLUCAGON FRAGMENT* AND ITS USE

NEW MATERIAL:A peptide of formula H-Ser-Arg-Arg-Ala-Gln-Asp-Phe-Val-Gln- Trp-Leu-Met-Asn-Thr-OH. USE:Hapten. The addition product of the hapten and proteins easily produces an antibody, which easily undergoes immunological reaction with a labelled glucagon used in the determination. PROCESS:The peptide of formula is prepared by bonding the amino acids or lower peptides corresponding to the above formula in the order given above, and at the final stage of the bonding reaction, eliminating the protecting group of the functional group of the side chain. The bonding is pref. carried out by the azide process, etc. to prevent the racemization at each step of the bonding. The elimination of the protecting group is carried out in one step pref. by the acid decomposition, e.g. with anhydrous hydrogen fluoride.
