Solid mineral particles are separated by treating the particles with a cationic surfaceactive substance, fluidizing the treated particles and submitting the fluidized particles to the action of an electrostatic field-type separator. The cationic substance is an amine, a polyamine, an amine or polyamine derivative or a mixture of any of these. The cationic substances are incorporated in an amount between 20-100 grams per ton of solid material. Examples of amine derivatives which may be used are salts, amino acids, quaternary salts, oxyethylated amines and derivatives obtained by the condensation of a fatty acid and a short chained polyamine, the short chained polyamine being an amido amine or an imidazolone.</p> |
