PURPOSE:To improve the discharge capacity of a nonaqueous-electrolyte battery whole negative electrode is a light metal by using a calcined compound made from manganese dioxide and a silver oxide for the positive electrode. CONSTITUTION:A nonaqueous-electrolyte battery includes a nonaqueous electrolyte, and a negative electrode whose active material is a light metal such as lithium or sodium. The positive active material of the battery is prepared from a compound which is obtained by calcining a mixture of manganese dioxide and a silver oxide. For example, 87g of manganese dioxide and 232g of argentous oxide are mixed, the mixture undergoes heat-treatment at 250-400 deg.C and is crushed, and followed by passing the crushed mixture through a screen of 200 mesh; the crushed mixture that passes this screen is used as positive active material. Following that, the positive active material is added with a conductive agent and a binder, this mixture is compressed and molded, and the molded mixture is subjected to vacuum heat-treatment at 300 deg.C to make a positive electrode. |
