PURPOSE:To provide a criterium for determination of ink or toner consumption by counting the number of dots per dot data of a single scan which is output from a page memory, seeking the ratio of a printing area to the area of an output paper based on the total number of dots obtained per a single page, and displaying the value of the ratio. CONSTITUTION:Character data or graphic data of a given page is developed in a page memory 6 as image data of dots at the same time whereas such data is entered into an interface part 2. Then such image data is subdivided into, e.g., data of eight scans, and sequentially stored in a scan buffer 7. Next, such data of eight scans are converted to count signals and output to a count device 8. Through this operation, count signals are counted. When the counting of all the scans of the given page as a whole is completed, the proportion of occupancy of a printing part to the output paper is determined through calcula tion, and its calculation results are displayed as a numerical value. |
