PURPOSE:To prevent the formation of water drops in mold caused by exhaust gas, by shifting relative positions of the nozzle and the mold while the tundish is being preheated. CONSTITUTION:The preheating of the tundish 1 is started after the mold 3 (containing the water cooling equipment 4) is moved laternally by operating the laternally shift device 5 and the relative positions of the mold 3 and the nozzle 1 are shifted not to meet each other. While the tundish 1 is being preheated, exhausted gas generated there is vented out of the tundish 1 passing through the nozzle 2. As the mold, though it is being ready to operate, is located not to meet the tundish 1, the exhaust gas from the tundish can not flow into the mold 3 and water drops would never be generated on inner surface of the mold 3. After preheating work is over, the mold 3 is moved back by the laterally shift device 5 to the original position meeting the nozzle 2 and then fixed there. Thus, the casting operation of molten steel can be started and continued safely with without anxiety of explosion. |
