[Also in Division F1] A pressure-balanced electromagnetically operated valve has a chamber 1 supplied with liquid from a container (48) where the free surface is pressurized with air which is also admitted to a solenoid housing 24 where it has access at 27 to a chamber 28 containing a spring 26 biasing armature 14 and spindle 12 downwards to cause seal ring 13 to engage seat 10 around an outlet 8b from chamber 1. Diaphragm 29 separates chambers 1, 28 and is subjected to equal pressures at its opposite sides. Solenoid 16 can raise armature 16 against spring 26 to open the valve and allow the liquid to discharge to container 57 via injection tube 8 which passes through resealable washer 43 in the container neck. Screen 56 retains the valve on sleeve 58. The solenoid housing 17 is slidingly removable following removal of nut 18. |
