The sub-assembly for spring-coupled discs (14, 15) includes two circular housing sections, (10, 11) with a mounting (25) and axial fishplate (27). The two housing sections are tightened together by a necked strut (13). On the circumference of housing section (10) is a series of coplanar bearing surfaces which may be directly connected to the reaction plate (14). Alternatively, a second series of surfaces, axially opposite the others, is connected to the second (pressure) plate (15). The connection between the pressure plate (15) and reaction plate (14) is through an intermediate friction plate (16), which is compressed between the two plates by the spring (11) force of housing section (11) resiliently pivoted by the strut (13). |
