<p>PURPOSE:To reduce magnetic flux leakage from an electromagnetic clutch and mechanically stabilize the same, by sinking the surface of a nonmagnetic material from the friction faces of two disc plates which are connected together by the nonmagnetic material. CONSTITUTION:A magnetic clutch 200 is attached to the mainbody 200A of a compressor for a car airconditioner. A disc 220 is formed of concentric disc plates 221, 222 made of a magnetic material (steel) and a binder material 223 consisting of a nonmagnetic material (copper or the like). When a current is passed through a magnetic coil 203, a magnetic flux phi flows as indicated by the dotted line and the disc 220 is attracted onto a rotor 230, thereby causing the disc 220 to rotate together with the rotor 230 owing to an electromagnetic connection therebetween. The rotation of the disc 220 causes a shaft 210 to synchronously rotate via spring 212 and boss 211. Connector members 223, 233, 234 have strength sufficient to withstand the rotary torque and the leakage of magnetic flux will be minimized owing to the adoption of the nonmagnetic material.</p> |
