PURPOSE:To elongate the life of a liq. crystal display device by arranging a transparent electrode and a reflecting electrode at least the surface of which is made of gold or gold alloy so that they face with each other and filling a liq. crystal substance into the space between the electrodes. CONSTITUTION:On silicon substrate 1 smoothening layer 2 made of polyimide resin is formed by a spin coating method, and through hole 3 for connection to the substrate transistor circuit is made in layer 2 by an ordinary photoresist method. Titanium layer 4 is then formed on layer 2 by vapor deposition, and reflecting electrode 5 is further formed on layer 4. Electrode 5 is made of Au, Au-Ni alloy or Au-Ni-Pd-Ag alloy. On the other hand, transparent opposite electrode 7 is formed on glass substrate 6, and liq. crystal substance 8 is filled into the space between electrodes 5, 7. Since reflecting electrode 5 is not corroded by an electrolyte contained in substance 8, a liq. crystal display device having a long life is obtd. |
