Novel isobutyl 2,6-dimethyl-3-methoxycarbonyl-4-(2'-nitrophenyl)-1,4-dihydropyridine- 5-carboxylate of the formula <IMAGE> is prepared by reacting isobutyl 2'-nitrobenzylideneacetoacetate either with methyl beta -aminocrotonate or with methyl acetoacetate and ammonia. The novel compound can be used as a coronary therapeutic.
