1354451 Anorexigenic compositions BOEHRINGER INGELHEIM GmbH 30 April 1971 [2 May 1970] 12443/71 Heading A5B [Also in Division C2] Pharmaceutical compositions having good anorexigenic activity with only a slight central stimulating activity and low toxicity comprise halogen-substituted phenylalkylamine and their derivatives of the formula (I): wherein Cl represents a chlorine atom in the 4- or 6-position; R 1 , R 2 and R 3 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom or a methyl group; and R 4 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or a benzyl or theophylline - (7) - ethyl group, the group -CH 2 -CH 2 -R 5 (wherein R 5 represents a carboxyl, alkoxycarbonyl, aminocarbonyl or cyano group), the group -CH 2 -CN, the group -(CH 2 ) m -R 6 or -C m H 2m-1 (C 6 H 5 )-R 6 (wherein m is 2, 3 or 4 and R 6 represents a halogen atom or a hydroxyl, amino or acylamino group), the group -C n H 2n -CO-R (wherein n is 1 or 2 and R represents an alkyl group with I to 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl group), or the group -CO-R 7 (wherein R 7 represents an alkoxy group with 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or an alkylthio or benzyloxy group or an alkyl group which may if desired be substituted by a halogen atom or a hydroxyl or amino group) and acid addition salts thereof in association with a pharmaceutical carrier or excipient, and if desired with other physiologically active ingredients, such as laxatives, in a form suitable for oral or rectal administration. |
