PURPOSE:To promote the combustion in an auxiliary combustion chamber of a diesel engine provided with a main and the auxiliary chamber by recirculating exhaust gas only to the auxiliary combustion chamber in a low-speed and low-load area for making use of the exhaust heat. CONSTITUTION:A main suction passage 13 is provided with a main throttle valve 11 to supply lean mixture to a main combustion chamber unillustrated. An auxiliary suction passage 16 is provided with an auxiliary throttle valve 14 to supply rich mixture to an auxiliary combustion chamber unillustrated. These two suction passages 13 and 16 are connected to an exhaust pipe 17 via an exhaust recirculation passage 18. The recirculation passage 18 is provided with interlocked valve bodies 34 and 35 driven by an electromagnetic actuator 41 in its branch part for opening and closing these suction passages 13 and 16 alternately. In the low-speed and low- load area of an engine, valve bodies 34 and 35 are shifted upward by a control unit unillustrated for returning exhaust gas to the auxiliary suction passage 16. |
