Polarographic catheter probe for the oetermn. of gas partial pressures gives a polarographic current at more than one measuring point (660). These points pref. are breaks in the (thin film) insulation on a (thin film) metallic probe support, which can be activated polarographically, at least in the surface area of the points. A metal film outside the insulating film acts as reference electrode. The measuring points are on (pref. along the length of) the shaft of the probe near its tip, which has a radius of curvature of 1 to over 500 microns. The probe is esp. useful for measuring the O2 pressure in living tissues and vessels. It has a low gas consumption with a high response rate, can be mass produceo and allows routine testing without danger to the patient.
